Come this October the site will have been around for about 4 years and it will also be breathing it’s last breath. The reasons for this are both financial and personal, neither of which will be discussed here. Many of us will still be friends and may even continue to work on videos together but the site itself will cease to exist. For those who want to keep track of where to find everyone who is on the site I suggest bookmarking the following page http://reviewersunknown.blogspot.com/
We now have a youtube channel which can be found at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZyH9tcA0DZ3V-dhq6SQkKg or simply just click the youtube icon under the follow us section in the upper right portion of the site. This channel is another great way for people to keep track of what’s going on with both the site and their favorite reviewers. It will also be home to some content exclusive to the youtube channel such as Week in RUview (below) featuring a member of the site every week recapping the week’s content.
Some of you may have heard that a lot of people are getting their channels dropped by blip. This has effected a fair chunk of our contributors. So don’t be surprised if videos slow to a slower crawl for a few days while we deal with people switching hosts and fixing current embed codes that will soon be dead.
Viewers may already have noticed it but we have two new members in the form of Enigma with his video game review series Unboxed and The Middle Aged Nerd with his Classic Song Reviews.
Hopefully just the first non reviewer contributor in a move to offer a wider variety of content here on the site. Battle Geek Plus is a small group providing many geek related comedy videos for your enjoyment.
Feel free to also check them out on youtube
As well as their own personal webpage
I just figured I’d address some things regarding videos that will be posted for the next few months at least. Primarily The Punchline, TV Trash, and the Dungeon Crawl stream.
The Comic Strip Critic has a fairly big backlog of videos since he was doing a weekly video for awhile (He’s doing them biweekly now I believe). Rowdy Reviewer is still doing videos weekly and has a much bigger backlog of videos. For these reasons we’re posting multiple episodes of their videos per week. The Punchline has been posted Tuesdays and Fridays and will continue to be so until we’ve caught up to where he is in his own posting schedule. TV Trash however was being posted Monday and Thursday with one of Rowdy’s Zelda Retrospectives on Saturdays, however all his current Zelda videos are up so with his huge backlog that Saturday spot will now be dedicated to a 3rd TV Trash episode per week.
Last in regards to the Dungeon Crawl, no one really watches the recordings. So while Ozzie will continue to host the stream, the recordings won’t be being posted.
Some people may have been wondering for quite awhile why we no longer have our own personal forum. The short answer is that quite simply no one was using it. Not our fans, not our contributors (not even the ones who most claimed they wanted us to have an “active” forum population). The only people who posted more then once every two months were a handful of people who posted their own reviews in the section for promoting your own stuff and I find myself doubting they cared about the site outside of pimping their own stuff since they were still posting stuff longer after the link to the forum was gone. Meaning they had bookmarked the forum directly and were just going straight there to post their stuff. (more…)
For those who have posted comments on videos/articles lately and wondered why your comment didn’t show up don’t worry. We’ve had a slight problem with the spam blocker for the past few days and it has been flagging ALL comments as spam. It doesn’t automatically delete them luckily and I have been going through and manually approving them. Not sure how we’re going to address this yet but for the time being your comments will be posted even if it isn’t immediately.
The site has a wiki now, created by our own Test Zero. Browse, add, and generally have fun here:
To make it easier for our visitors to find their favorite contributors and maybe discover some new ones, we’ve made some changes to the navigation menu. If you go to the Videos and Articles menus, there are now secondary menus listing the contributors. You’ll also notice a nifty new dropdown under the “The Crew” button. These take you to somewhat more detailed listing pages describing our crew members’ specialties.
