Am I suicidal? No, just putting into video form what people have been asking me to do for almost a year now.

you should be shot in the head and drug from one side of Detroit to L.A. by a dying horse. You’ve done nothing but contradict yourself half this video. rot in a ditch.

    • Anon says:

yes. the movies left stuff out. and yes they didn’t stick to the themes. but its a movie, its about the narrative, not the themes. the casting was great, there you can fuck yourself. all in all you’re not looking at it from the vantage point of a movie. meant to be marketed to the short attention spans of the common viewer. yes, die-hards hate it, but they just want a by the book interpretation with no changes, and you thought it was long before? at least the new line managed to summarize it in a good way people enjoyed, not a 3 day long one that would have lost new fans to the series if it stayed ABSOLUTELY true to the books. so don’t nit pick details, just sit back and enjoy the narrative the movie was made for.

Good job…you fail at life. Because telling someone they should be shot and telling them to f*** themselves is totally how to get your point across. What happened with just disagreeing and not resort to insults and violent threats?

      • writrzblok says:

Theme can be just as important as the narrative. Sometimes themes can save a movie when the narrative isn’t all that strong.

Here’s how you handle a disagreement of this sort. For example, I liked and enjoyed the Lord Of the Rings movies, he didn’t. I felt he gave a well-reasoned individual analysis on why he felt that way. I have lost no respect for him because of his opinion on the matter and find that personal attacks weaken your position. There is no, I repeat, no reason why such a disagreement should devolve into (basically) “you should be violently murdered for not liking what I like.” That is an idiotic, immature and ignorant position to take. He has a right to his views, even if I disagree with them.

“I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”-Voltaire

      • Wow. How “constructive” of you…telling him to go and die in a ditch for stating his opinion. The maturity of people these days…

I agree with Anon here that you are the true idiot, you are wrong & that half of what you said contradict yourself & need to learn how movies work & that what Peter Jackson did his absolute best & your just a blow hard who didn’t get his way & by your daughter/niece your just a spoiled as she is

Number 7. I agree with the points you make.
Number 6. I personally disagree with this one. They sell things like that, and people willingly buy them.
Number 5. I’m very conflicted with this one. I do agree the novels told a story of many spectrums, but I don’t think that’s what the films were going for. In the films, it portrays much more of a time of fear and desperation due to the rising of the dark army. I don’t see this is a really good, or really bad thing.
    Number 4. Meh
Number 3. I agree with your points on the Pipin and Mary characterization. I also am inclined to agree with the Christopher Lee argument. He’s an excellent actor, but with his track record, and such a booming, threatening voice, it’s no secret he’s evil.
Number 2. First you say the movies were too long, then you say there should have been more. Sorry to say, it’s sounding a bit contradictory.
Number 1. I wouldn’t go so far too say that it didn’t deserve the accolades it received. I personally feel it is a great series. You’re looking at it from a readers perspective, and it seems everyone else is looking at it from a viewers perspective. But I have heard many people who read the books and still enjoyed the film. This point is especially hard to argue.
In summary, I respect your opinion and your viewpoint, but I disagree with your overall assessment of the movie. Thank you, and good night.

Aaah, I see where people thought I was contradicting myself.

The major complaint is that the movies feel too long. I personally disagreed with that assessment, but agreed that there was garbage that padded out the film for no reason. As a result I should have clarified that it was a major complaint of others that I was addressing.

There should have been six movies, and no stuff added for the sole purpose of padding.

Hope that clarifies my position a bit.

As far as merchandising goes… It may be just my age, but I find this a bit overkill.
